Pray for the people of Haiti

Lord I just want to say THANK YOU.
Because when I woke up and knew where my children were

Because this morning my home was still standing
Because this morning I am still crying
Because my spouse, my child, my brother or sister, my parent does not need to be buried
or pulled out from underneath a pile of concrete
Because this morning I am able to drink a glass of water
Because this morning I am able to turn on the lights
Because this morning I was able to take a shower
Because this morning I was not planning a funeral

But most of all, I thank you this morning because I still have life
and a voice to cry out for the people of Haiti
Lord, I cry out to you, the One that makes the impossible, possible
The One that turns darkness to light

I cry out that You give those brothers strength
That You give them peace that surpasses all understanding
That You may open up the streets so that help can come
That You may provide doctors, nurses, food, water and all that they need in a blink of a eye

For all those who have lost family members, give them peace, give them hope, give them courage to continue to go on!
Protect the children and shield them with your power
I pray all this in the name of JESUS!!!
St. Lucia is truly blessed!!!!!!!

Councillors term comes to an end

Every year nine persons in the Choiseul/Saltibus Constituency are nominated by the District Rep to act as councillors of the Choiseul Village Council. These persons after they are nominated then recieve from the Governor General their letter of confirmation to the post of councillor.
The term of service is usually from February 1 in the year to January 31 the following year. The term February 1, 2009 to January 31, 2010 was chaired by Elmira Joseph with Mr. Henson Samuel as the vice.

Council usually meets every third Wednesday of every month to discuss and take decisions on matters affecting the constituency.

This year Council undertook a number of projects from footpaths to beautifications of the constituency.

The Village Clerk, Williana St. Rose, a hard and dedicated worker, is the executive director of Council and is charged with taking care of the daily routines, from paper work to managing of the Council staff.

Members of Council had their final meeting this month to put a lead on things as their term come to a close.

Mr. Bousquet now has the option to retain or replace any of the councillors for the next term which begins on February 1, 2010.

Look out for Council's Yearbook 2009 - 2010

Cafierre and Dugard commuters relieved

For years now commuters from the communities of Cafierre and Dugard have been asking for a bus shelter to protect them from the elements of the weather when they have to await transport. Since there is no routine transport system plying the Cafierre and Dugard route, the commuters have to walk all the way to the Sauzay gap adjoining the La Fargue highway to catch a bus to take them to their destination.
Most times these commuters would have to use Cyria's shop as the waiting area. The shop owner has been very accommodating. This could not be allowed to continue.
The District Rep,using his tact and good name has been able to secure funding for this long awaited project. The Government of Taiwan have assisted with the funding.  Construction of the bus shelter has already begun and is nearing completion.
Bousquet has seen to it that every community where buses ply the routes have a bus shelter. To date bus shelters have ben constructed in Saltibus, Lapointe, Delcer, and La maze. Also under construction is another one in the Dacretin community. Pics will follow soon.
This year two more shelters are expected to be constructed

Solar Energy In The Works For Sabre Wesha

Every year during the month of January students from the University of Vermont in the United States of America visit St.Lucia with the view of identifying prospective projects as well as undertaking projects in the field of Health,Education and Energy.

Over the past year the Univrsity has been in contact with the MP through Dedan Jn. Baptiste to access the possibility of powering Sabre Wesha's Recreational Park with Solar Energy.

Well this dream is about to materialise as a team from the University paid a courtesy call on Members of the Choiseul Village Council to get a first hand look at the Park and what is required.

At the Council Office, the team headed by Mr. Gary Flo, a lecturer at the University, was given an overview of the Council's operations and its relationship with the MP. The project details was also outlined

Electricity to the Park has deluded the Council for sometime now due to the exorbitant price tag for Lucelec to run the power lines to reach the park - $65,000.00.

Solar energy will be at a lower cost. The Council is expected to pay 40% of the cost of installtion.

The team was very impressed with the Park, and according to Mr. Flo, "I'm impressed with the neatness and upkeep of the area."

The project is due to get underway come January next tear.

Presently students from the University are involved in a Wind Energy project at Praslin, while others are into Health and Education projects at different locations around the island
