YOUNG MATHEMATICAL MINDS BRING PRIDE TO CHOISEUL/SALTIBUS!
MEIKE MONROSE AND KIMANY DANIEL SHINE IN DISTRICT 7 MATHEMATICS COMPETITION
CHOISEUL ON THE MOVE | Celebrating Our Young Achievers
There are moments when we must put aside the everyday challenges facing our communities and take time to celebrate something truly positive. Today is one of those moments.
Two young students from Choiseul/Saltibus have given their schools, families and communities every reason to smile following outstanding performances in the 2026 District 7 Annual Mathematics Competition.
Kimany Daniel of Saltibus Combined School secured second place, while Meike Monrose of Piaye Combined School earned third place.
The overall championship went to Banse Combined School, which deserves hearty congratulations for capturing first place.
For Choiseul/Saltibus, however, having two students among the district's top three finishers is an achievement worth celebrating.
Kimany Daniel — A Young Scholar Making Saltibus Proud
At just 10 years old, Grade 5 student Kimany Daniel is already demonstrating the qualities of a promising young scholar.
Described by his school as disciplined, respectful, hardworking and committed to learning, Kimany has consistently maintained an excellent academic record.
According to information provided by Saltibus Combined School, he regularly achieves A+ grades, remains at the top of his class and has earned recognition as a merit student.
His passion for learning began at an early age, particularly through reading, which helped develop his wider academic abilities.
Under the guidance of his Grade 5 teacher, Mrs Sherrica Prospere, Kimany continues to demonstrate that academic excellence is built through discipline, determination and consistent effort.
His second-place finish in the District 7 Mathematics Competition is another significant achievement in what promises to be an exciting educational journey.
We congratulate Kimany, his teacher, his parents and the entire Saltibus Combined School family.
Keep working hard, young man. Your community is proud of you!
Meike Monrose — Piaye's Young Mathematics Star!
Not to be outdone, Meike Monrose, a Grade 5 student of Piaye Combined School, has earned an impressive third-place finish in the district competition.
And what a wonderful achievement it is!
Mathematics competitions challenge students to think carefully, solve problems and demonstrate their understanding under competitive conditions. Securing a place among the district's top performers is something to be genuinely proud of.
In its congratulatory message, Piaye Combined School praised Meike's hard work, determination and mathematical skills.
The school also encouraged her to continue believing in herself, embracing challenges and striving for even greater achievements.
Those are words worth repeating, not only to Meike but to every young student across Choiseul/Saltibus.
Meike, your third-place achievement is no small accomplishment. You have represented Piaye Combined School with distinction, and your community celebrates you!
We extend congratulations to her teachers, parents and the entire Piaye Combined School family for their support and encouragement.
Keep shining, Meike. This may be just the beginning of something special!
Congratulations to Banse — District 7 Champions!
While we celebrate our two young achievers from Choiseul/Saltibus, we must also recognise the outstanding performance of Banse Combined School, which captured first place in the competition.
Congratulations to the champion school, its participating students, teachers and supporters.
Your success adds another proud chapter to District 7's educational achievements.
Mathematics: The Ultimate Expression of Hope
The competition's theme, "Mathematics: The Ultimate Expression of Hope," carries a message that deserves our attention.
Mathematics is much more than numbers, equations and examinations. It teaches our children how to think, analyse, reason and solve problems.
These are abilities they will carry throughout their lives, whether they become teachers, engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, technicians or pursue careers we cannot yet imagine.
And this is where I believe we, as a community, have an important responsibility.
We must continue encouraging academic achievement, not only when our children win competitions but throughout their educational journey.
Every school has children with potential. Every classroom has young minds waiting to be challenged, encouraged and inspired.
Sometimes all a child needs is a teacher who believes, a parent who encourages, or a community that takes notice.
Let Us Celebrate Academic Excellence Too!
We often celebrate our young people when they excel in sports, music and other activities, and rightly so.
But academic achievement deserves that same enthusiasm.
When a child from Saltibus or Piaye stands among the district's best in mathematics, that is community news worth sharing.
These achievements remind us that talent is not confined to the larger schools or more prominent communities. It exists in our villages, in our classrooms and in the young people we see walking to school every morning.
We should recognise it, nurture it and celebrate it.
To the District 7 Education Office and everyone involved in organising this annual competition, congratulations on providing a platform for our children to demonstrate their abilities.
And to every student who participated, whether you finished among the top three or not, remember that the courage to compete and the willingness to learn are achievements in themselves.
To Kimany Daniel of Saltibus Combined School and Meike Monrose of Piaye Combined School: Choiseul/Saltibus salutes you both!
Continue learning. Continue believing. Continue reaching for excellence.
Because when our children succeed, our entire community moves forward.
This is Choiseul on the Move — celebrating our people, recognising our achievements and believing in the promise of our young generation.
