Choiseul on the Move

APPLAUDING LEADERSHIP THAT PUTS OUR CHILDREN FIRST

A timely Back-to-School Support Initiative that deserves recognition

There are moments in public life when politics should step aside and people should come first. This is one of those moments.

The announcement by the Choiseul–Saltibus District Representative of a Back-to-School Support Initiative for families in need is both timely and worthy of applause.

As the new school year approaches, many parents and guardians are quietly calculating the cost of school bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, geometry sets, uniforms, shoes and other essential items.

For some families, these expenses may appear manageable. For others, however, they can become a serious financial burden—especially when there is more than one child preparing to return to school.

“Every child deserves to begin the school year with the tools they need to learn, grow and succeed.”

More Than Just School Supplies

A notebook may seem like a simple item. A pencil may cost only a few dollars. But to a child who would otherwise arrive at school without the basic tools needed to participate, these supplies can mean much more.

✔ They provide confidence.

✔ They reduce embarrassment.

✔ They help children participate fully in class.

✔ They ease the pressure on struggling parents.

✔ They remind students that their community believes in them.

Every notebook placed in a child’s hand, every pen, every ruler and every school bag represents an investment in the future of Choiseul and Saltibus.

Applause Where It Is Deserved

Here at Choiseul on the Move, we believe that whenever an initiative directly benefits our people, it should be acknowledged—regardless of political affiliation.

Supporting our children is not a political victory.

It is a community victory.

It is encouraging to see the District Representative openly inviting families who need assistance to apply, while also urging residents to share the information with others who may benefit.

That request carries an important message: a stronger community is built when neighbours look out for one another.

The Future Begins in the Classroom

The future of Choiseul and Saltibus will not be determined only by roads, buildings, bridges or other physical infrastructure.

It will also be determined by the opportunities we create for our children today.

Every child who starts school prepared is one step closer to becoming tomorrow’s teacher, nurse, engineer, farmer, entrepreneur, tradesperson, police officer, community leader or public servant.

Back-to-School Support Applications

Families requiring assistance with essential school supplies are encouraged to apply.

Use the QR code or the application link included on the official flyer.

Application Deadline: Friday, July 17, 2026

Limited supplies are available. Priority consideration will be given to families with the greatest financial need.

Let Us Help the Message Reach Every Family

We encourage residents to share the official flyer widely across Choiseul and Saltibus.

Share it in community WhatsApp groups. Send it to a neighbour. Forward it to a relative. Mention it to a parent who may be facing difficulty.

Some families may be too proud or embarrassed to ask for help publicly. Others may simply be unaware that the assistance is available. A simple act of sharing could help a child begin the new school year better prepared.

Today, Choiseul on the Move applauds this initiative.

We hope it becomes one of many programmes that continue to put the welfare, education and future of our children first.

When we invest in our children,
we invest in the future of Choiseul, Saltibus and Saint Lucia.

Share this article and help ensure that no child begins the school year at a disadvantage.
