I am thrilled to express my wholehearted support for Vern Charles as she steps forward as a candidate for the position of President in the upcoming St. Lucia Teachers' Union elections on March 19th, 2024. Vern's unwavering dedication to education, combined with her extensive experience and passion for teachers' rights, make her the ideal candidate for this pivotal role.

Educational Excellence: Vern Y. N. Charles is not just a seasoned educator; she is a highly qualified professional with a Master's in Education (M.Ed.) specializing in Literacy Instruction from the University of the West Indies (2013-2015). Her commitment to literacy is evident from her Bachelor's in Education (B.Ed.) with a focus on Literacy Studies, earned from the same prestigious institution (2006-2008). Her educational journey began with General Teacher Training at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College/University of the West Indies, where she obtained an Associate Degree (1998-2000).

Professional Experience: Vern's extensive teaching career spans from 2000 to the present, with her current role as the Principal of Roblot Combined School since September 2016. Prior to her principalship, she dedicated 16 years to Mongouge Combined School, where she honed her skills and contributed significantly to the development of her students.

Trade Union Involvement: Vern's dedication to the improvement of the education system extends beyond the classroom. Serving as the Deputy General Secretary of the Caribbean Union of Teachers from 2019 to 2023, she has been a key player at the regional level. Locally, as the 1st Vice President and Deputy General Secretary of the St. Lucia Teachers' Union, Vern has actively advocated for the rights of teachers and the enhancement of education quality from 2020 to the present.

Leadership and Recognition: Her leadership roles include being the Public Relations Officer of the St. Lucia Teachers’ Union from 2013 to 2016 and the Chairperson of the Status of Women’s Committee from 2011 to 2012 and 2014 to 2018. Vern represented St. Lucia at the 3rd and 4th Education International World Women’s Conference held in Morocco (2015) and virtually (2022).

Awards & Honors: In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Vern was honored as the "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" in 2015. Her dedication and leadership were also acknowledged earlier in her career when she received the "Most Outstanding Youth Award" and was recognized as the "Most Outstanding Debater" in 1997.

Active Involvement and Community Service: Beyond her professional commitments, Vern is an active contributor to the community. She has served as the editor of commemorative magazines for both the Caribbean Union of Teachers Biennial Conference in 2017 and the Caribbean Union of Teachers Status of Women’s Committee in 2022. Furthermore, she has held significant roles in various church confraternities, including being the Past President of the Chosen Stones Catholic Youth Group, and presently heading the Youth Choir.

In light of Vern's remarkable qualifications, extensive experience, and tireless dedication to the improvement of education, I strongly urge you to cast your vote for Vern Charles in the upcoming elections.
